The most remote place in the world

Easter Island is the most remote place in the world. It is 2000 miles away from any civilization. You can fly from Santiago, Chile

Here is a good map of the statues. The statues are called moai.

A poem begins in delight and ends in wisdom

I came across this great limerick.

There once was a man from Nantucket
Who kept all his cash in a bucket.
But his daughter, named Nan,
Ran away with a man
And as for the bucket, Nantucket.

It is not the quantity of the meat, but the cheerfulness of the guests, which makes the feast

I came across a runic writing system like the vikings
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siglas_Poveiras

I looked up that carol Hugh Grant sings in Love Actually. Here is the song.

Good King Wenceslas looked out on the feast of Stephen,
When the snow lay round about, deep and crisp and even;
Brightly shone the moon that night, tho' the frost was cruel,
When a poor man came in sight gath'ring winter fuel.

"Hither, page, and stand by me, if thou know'st it, telling,
Yonder peasant, who is he? Where and what his dwelling?"
"Sire, he lives a good league hence, underneath the mountain;
Right against the forest fence, by Saint Agnes' fountain."

"Bring me flesh, and bring me wine, bring me pine logs hither:
Thou and I will see him dine, when we bear them thither."
Page and monarch, forth they went, forth they went together;
Through the rude wind's wild lament and the bitter weather.

"Sire, the night is darker now, and the wind blows stronger;
Fails my heart, I know not how, I can go no longer."
"Mark my footsteps, my good page. Tread thou in them boldly:
Thou shalt find the winter's rage freeze thy blood less coldly."
In his master's steps he trod, where the snow lay dinted;
Heat was in the very sod which the saint had printed.
Therefore, Christian men, be sure, wealth or rank possessing,
Ye who now will bless the poor, shall yourselves find blessing.

I found that Wenceslaus I, Duke of Bohemia was leader of bohemia and christian to boot. His mom a pagan priestess Drahomira (love that name) said her other son Boleslaus that Wenceslaus needed killing. So Wenceslaus invites his brother to a saint feast. Boleslaus at the feast murders his brother and bcomes king. Boleslaus on the same day give birth to a son which they name named Strachkvas, what means "a dreadful feast".

Failure is a detour, not a dead-end street

baby once again thinks that naps are beneath him. Maybe it is because I didn’t take him swimming to day. So today I have been part of two detours. The first was because a helicopter was either dropping off or picking up at goleta hospital. The second was next to that water district place down the street. Got to go by the local coroner office it looks like a shack the unibomber would live in.

Two ships passing in the night

I read to day that bryan singer and brett ratner switched places on xmen and superman. How weird is that.

XP on intel mac is working. That was sure fast.

Two ships passing in the night is from a Longfellow's poem The Theologian's Tale

"Ships that pass in the night, and speak each other in passing;Only a signal shown and a distant voice in the darkness;So on the ocean of life we pass and speak one another,Only a look and a voice; then darkness again and a silence."

Truth, like a torch, the more it's shook it shines

I read today that Nero who needed a scapegoat for a devastating fire. The Christians were made the scapegoat for the fire. So many were crucified and some were made in to human torches to light up nero gardens. Freaky. Nero built a huge palace in the burned out area. The romans got angry about this and a ton of other stuff he was given a death sentence. Though he killed himself. His last breath he said What an artist dies in me.
