The evil that we know is best.

Well I am selling the mobile in baby crib and I got this question.

Sorry to get personal. Does this item come from a smoke-free environment?

I replied...
This does come from a smoke free home. Sorry I didn't post this but I never have smoked and just don't think about people smoking. Besides I live in california and smoking here is almost mortal sin. Just to let you know this mobile also comes from a vampire, alien, evil robots, satanist, and zombie free environment. :^)

baby started his swim lessons. The new teacher was awesome. She started out with a speech about how this is supposed to be fun, and that our kids will not learn to swim yet but learn not to be frightened of the water. She jokingly said that if you were thinking that your kid could swim at the end of the session you could still get your money back.

Common sense is instinct. Enough of it is genius.

I was watching real genius and I was struck how much mitch (Gabriel Jarrett) looks like sarah jessica parker. There is no relation listed on imdb.

I also was reseaching the walking tall guy to see what the real story was. Well the guy it based on is called Buford Pusser. No wonder the didn’t use his real name. The family of Buford Pusser have a restraint called “Pussers”. He was quite a interesting guy.

SNL spoofed harry potter. I very low bow but funny.

Last but not least I went to home depot and took some pictures of patio furniture. The pacific seemed to be the best. Here is a link.

Amnesia used to be my favorite word, but then I forgot it

For a time I was wondering who Dorothy Parker was she was a poet, and playwright. The play I know from her list of achievements is the star is born. Here is one of her poems.

Song Of One Of The Girls

Here in my heart I am Helen; I'm Aspasia and Hero, at least.
I'm Judith, and Jael, and Madame de Stael; I'm Salome, moon of the East.
Here in my soul I am Sappho; Lady Hamilton am I, as well.
In me Recamier vies with Kitty O'Shea, With Dido, and Eve, and poor Nell.
I'm of the glamorous ladies At whose beckoning history shook. But you are a man, and see only my pan, So I stay at home with a book.

Still not feeling up to snuff. But I hope the coming weekend will help.

Television: A medium - so called because it is neither rare nor well done.

Okay a japanise sipderman scares me but the cheese goodness makes me not be able to turn away.
http://www.smallerurl.com/?id=vaccjet

I found a great poem.
"Mike Teavee..."
(from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)
"The most important thing we've learned,
So far as children are concerned,
Is never, NEVER, NEVER let
Them near your television set–
Or better still, just don't install
The idiotic thing at all.
In almost every house we've been,
We've watched them gaping at the screen.
They loll and slop and lounge about,
And stare until their eyes pop out.
(Last week in someone's place we saw
A dozen eyeballs on the floor.)
They sit and stare and stare and sit
Until they're hypnotised by it,
Until they're absolutely drunk
With all the shocking ghastly junk.
Oh yes, we know it keeps them still,
They don't climb out the window sill,
They never fight or kick or punch,
They leave you free to cook the lunch
And wash the dishes in the sink–
But did you ever stop to think,
To wonder just exactly what
This does to your beloved tot?
IT ROTS THE SENSES IN THE HEAD!
IT KILLS IMAGINATION DEAD!
IT CLOGS AND CLUTTERS UP THE MIND!
IT MAKES A CHILD SO DULL AND BLIND
HE CAN NO LONGER UNDERSTAND
A FANTASY, A FAIRYLAND!
HIS BRAIN BECOMES AS SOFT AS CHEESE!
HIS POWERS OF THINKING RUST AND FREEZE!
HE CANNOT THINK–HE ONLY SEES!
'All right!' you'll cry. 'All right!' you'll say,
'But if we take the set away,
What shall we do to entertain
Our darling children? Please explain!'
We'll answer this by asking you,
'What used the darling ones to do?'
How used they keep themselves contented
Before this monster was invented?
'Have you forgotten? Don't you know?
We'll say it very loud and slow:
THEY...USED...TO...READ! They'd READ and READ,
AND READ and READ, and then proceed
To READ some more. Great Scott! Gadzooks!
One half their lives was reading books!
The nursery shelves held books galore!
Books cluttered up the nursery floor!
And in the bedroom, by the bed,
More books were waiting to be read!
Such wondrous, fine, fantastic tales
Of dragons, gypsies, queens, and whales
And treasure isles, and distant shores
Where smugglers rowed with muffled oars,
And pirates wearing purple pants,
And sailing ships and elephants,
And cannibals crouching 'round the pot,
Stirring away at something hot.
(It smells so good, what can it be?
Good gracious, it's Penelope.)
The younger ones had Beatrix Potter
With Mr. Tod, the dirty rotter,
And Squirrel Nutkin, Pigling Bland,
And Mrs. Tiggy–Winkle and–
Just How The Camel Got His Hump,
And How The Monkey Lost His Rump,
And Mr. Toad, and bless my soul,
There's Mr. Rat and Mr. Mole–
Oh, books, what books they used to know,
Those children living long ago!
So please, oh please, we beg, we pray,
Go throw your TV set away,
And in its place you can install
A lovely bookshelf on the wall.
Then fill the shelves with lots of books,
Ignoring all the dirty looks,
The screams and yells, the bites and kicks,
And children hitting you with sticks–
Fear not, because we promise you
That, in about a week or two
Of having nothing else to do,
They'll now begin to feel the need
Of having something good to read.
And once they start–oh boy, oh boy!
You watch the slowly growing joy
That fills their hearts. They'll grow so keen
They'll wonder what they'd ever seen
In that ridiculous machine,
That nauseating, foul, unclean,
Repulsive television screen!
And later, each and every kid
Will love you more for what you did.
P.S. Regarding Mike Teavee,
We very much regret that we
Shall simply have to wait and see
If we can get him back his height.
But if we can't–it serves him right."

People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one.

Well I locked my keys, and it seems my spare key in the car which sucks like trucker on his last drop of mountian dew. I spent most of the morning cleaning or working with filmgirl cleaning.

Then baby was so tired he went to sleep pretty fast then I forgot a passafire and the only one I could find baby had dropped behind the headboard. I tried to get it but I woke him up and then he didn’t want to go back to sleep. Then he screamed for a hour while I tried to get him back to sleep. So he still hasn’t got his nap and instead of waking up when daddy gets home he will be going to bed when he does.

Everything hurts from back to headache I just can wait till the weekend!

This mockumentary of gamers is hilliarous.

A man should keep his little brain attic stocked with all the furniture that he is likely to use, and the rest he can put away in the library.

Today we went to the library for story time. baby sat still for the first story then he wanted to move around. It kind of weird going to the library since I remember it so fondly as a kid. I wanted to go explore my favorite section to see if my old favorites were there but baby had other ideas.

It was kind of odd the person that was doing the book reading he had a very thick hispanic accent and at some times it was hard to understand him.

Then we went to Ann house for snacks and new toys to play with. She has two big dogs. All of the kids inculding James had to let us know there were dogs.

I sent Renee some jobs I found on craigs list Now if she will just apply.

The tongue like a sharp knife... Kills without drawing blood.

I started a thread on the geekson forms about a company using implants for security. Which blew up in to this huge conversation about the mark of the beast. Which start people talking about god, the devil and vampires. I found this great quote.

But first, on earth as Vampire sent,
Thy corpse shall from its tomb be rent:
Then ghastly haunt thy native place,
And suck the blood of all thy race;
There from thy daughter, sister, wife,
At midnight drain the stream of life;
Yet loathe the banquet which perforce
Must feed thy livid living corpse.
Thy victims are they yet expire
Shall know the demon for their sire,
As cursing thee, thou cursing them,
Thy flowers withered on the stem."

zoo trip

Went to the zoo today. baby had a ball espicially with the gorillas. When we got there they had just let them out and there were all sorts of crunchy snacks in the gorrila area and he went out looking for them all. I may or may not had got some good shots of this or not.

Maybe we could tour the humane society. Yesterday James was so excited to see a dog that maybe he would like to go there. Or maybe it to depressing.

Renee said she sent me a script never came. She is such a slacker.

Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air…

Today baby swim lesson went well. He really loves splashing around the pool. When we are in the locker room he wants to me meet everyone, which is good and bad. Meet Althea 86 year old woman in “bathing suit” is not pretty.

On our walk today I ran in to a woman that I worked with in summer sessions. She has a child Jamie who is 18 months. We spent some time at her house. then I walked down Paterson to the bike path then walnut home.

I found this video that was hilarious. My husband will get a big kick out of it.

the well is dry

Well the most exciting thing I did all day is go shopping for dish detergent. baby is sleeping finally. For the first hour baby had to have his arm on my mine to stay asleep. So didn’t get a lot of writing done.

Ann said no to applying to STW so one down. I have emailed two others but no dice so far. It looks right now that I won’t be helping them find a new workstation support guy.

Well of to work on another writing project.

Fall down go boom

When baby was at the YMCA he fell down and split his lip. I felt so sad. But we did the swim lesson and he did it like a trooper. I went to the kids movie day at 10:00. It was so much fun. I saw hoodwinked it was a really simple plot so I left at 11:00 for baby swim lesson.

I was going to walk with the lady down the street (who owned gymborye but luckily she bowed out so I got to go to the movie.

I thought of another story that I could write for the writers workshop so I am going to work on that today.

got bagels?

Well baby and I went out to get bagels and cash some checks this morning. We had a great trip in that he didn’t asked to be carried around in a baby bjorn.

I also found some of the right baby formula. So he had some of that this afternoon. I don’t want to be a slacker mom.

I was thinking that it might be fun to participate in the table setting contest at world con. I was considering doing Cosa Nostra Pizza from Snow Crash. I found on ebay a fake pizza and
make a pizza box and well you get the idea.

I hope to get some writing done today. But baby has been kind of jittery so who knows.

Tickle Finker

Mmmm salt and pepper chips are yummy. We went to trader Joe's and got pirate booty and small pretzels for James. There was also a trip to the hard ware store to find away to keep baby out of the cabinets.

honey said the funniest thing it was “ I think we have milked that well dry”.

I also took myself off my comic geek podcast I just wasn’t listening to it. I added a ham radio podcast and a gmat podcast.

I have been slacking on my writing and I have to get going if I want to meet my goal of getting something to present at the writing workshop at world con.

I have been mostly working on the belt of weird power story. I guess tomorrow I will have to get on it again.

zoo trip

I took the kid to the zoo today. I was fun. He liked the monkeys. The seal (his usual favorite) was snoozing in the sun and so he was kind of bummed.

Renee showed up today and it looks like she did some cleaning. I also asked her to make some corn bread.

Also this ninja clowns video is pretty funny.

there is no place like home

My honey came home! He came out of the plane in to gate 6 which is the main gate. I remember waiting at that gate as a kid for my dad to come off the plane. It is fun when things come full circle. The woman calling out the arrivals and departures had a thick accent it was so hard to understand her I wasn’t really sure where to pick up Peter.

On my walk this morining there was a hawk just sitting on a telephone wire. I got some pictures but I am not sure how they will turn out.

I went by the post office when everybody leaves for there shift of delivering the mail. There faces were so sad.

I found this cool ferrari street racing video here
